In many factories, manned towing vehicles are used for transport between buildings. By using outdoor AGVs, unmanned operation can be achieved.
There are slopes everywhere outdoors, including at the entrance to buildings. Outdoor AGVs can climb slopes of up to 5 degrees. They are equipped with large diameter wheels that are strong against uneven road surfaces, and each part is designed to withstand rain.
New model of trackless outdoor AGV
Two 3D Lidar sensors, which are also used in self-driving cars, are used. Planar measurements using 2D sensors can cause the route to be lost due to environmental changes such as pallets of parts being loaded near the driving route.
By understanding the surrounding environment, including distant views, in 3D, it is possible to improve accuracy.
In tracked magnetic systems, magnetic cables are embedded as driving routes, but by using 3D Lidar sensors, magnetic cables are not necessary, making it easier to change or add routes.
